This page will help you to interpret the results of your personality and player type tests.

DISCLAIMER: These scores are merely indicative of your personality and player type. They do not determine who you are as a person. These scores are used as a way to categorise similar people in academic research and should not be relied upon outside of this setting.

Personality Scores:

These are based on the Big Five theory of personality where a person’s personality is divided into 5 separate traits: Openness to Experience, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness, and Neuroticism. Each trait exists on a scale and the test you completed will tell you how much or how little of each trait makes up your personality.

Openness to Experience: This is ranked on a scale of 10 to 50. Lower scores indicate that you are cautious while higher scores indicate that you are inventive or curious.

Conscientiousness: This is ranked on a scale of 9 to 45. Lower scores indicate that you are careless or extravagant while higher scores indicate that you are efficient and organised.

Extraversion: This is ranked on a scale of 8 to 40. Lower scores indicate that you are introverted while higher scores indicate that you are extraverted.

Agreeableness: This is ranked on a scale of 9 to 45. Lower scores indicate that you are combative or defiant while higher scores indicate that you are friendly and compassionate.

Neuroticism: This is ranked on a scale of 8 to 40. Lower scores indicate that you are resilient or confident while higher scores indicate that you are sensitive or anxious.

Player Type Scores:

These scores are based on the HEXAD framework of player and user types. According to this framework, player type is defined by the player’s motivation to play a game. Each player has some aspect of each player type, but some may be more apparent than others. Each type is ranked on a scale of 5 to 35 with lower scores indicating less motivation in a particular area and higher scores indicating that this category is strongly associated with your player type.

Socialisers: These players are motivated by the desire to create social connections and interact with other people.

Free Spirits: These players value the ability to create and explore.

Achievers: These players are motivated by challenges and they like to master particular skills.

Philanthropists: These players are motivated by purpose and meaning. They want to give to and enrich the lives of others without expecting a reward.

Players: These players are motivated by in-game rewards.

Disruptors: These players desire to bring about change in the game world through disruption. This change can be positive or negative.
